• The ABCDE Rule of Moles •
Following my short course on Melanoma and Skin Cancer early detection, here is a summery and easy to follow example of what characteristics are common in irregular moles compared to ‘healthy’ ones and what to watch out for.
It is particularly important to get any moles checked out which are new, getting bigger/ spreading or are simply showing signs of change.
This post is not to alarm or scare you, it is just an encouragement to have a little check on any moles you do have and if any look a little different/ out of the usual it will never do any harm in taking a few minutes out of your day to go and get it checked for peace of mind.
Early detection is key and although most common in sun exposed areas- melanoma moles can appear all over the body, including the palms of hands, soles of your feet and even under your nail beds (!) so just keep a regular watchful eye for any changes.
